Vasily Shukshin Museum in Srostki

Фото 1
In 1978, a museum was opened in the village of Srostki in the house where the famous Russian actor, director, and writer Vasily Makarovich Shukshin was born and spent his childhood. In 1999, this museum complex was granted the status of a All-Russian memorial museum-reserve. The complex includes three buildings: Shukshin's parents' house, the school where he studied and briefly taught, and the house he purchased for his mother in 1965.

The Vasily Shukshin Museum houses about fifteen thousand exhibits, including his personal belongings, household items of his parents, portraits of Shukshin, and a reconstruction of the school of that time. Visiting the museum creates a feeling that the owners have just stepped out of the house and will soon return, and that first-graders will soon appear in the school.

In addition to tours, visitors can participate in various events organized by the museum staff, including the famous Shukshin Days. Everyone is also welcome to familiarize themselves with new issues of the collection of articles "Shukshin Herald," which the museum staff are working on. The museum often hosts exhibitions dedicated to the memory of Vasily Makarovich Shukshin.
