In the 19th century, Russia saw a flourishing of noble estates, with true architectural gems emerging in the provincial corners of the country. One such estate is the Galsky estate, known as 'Gorka'. For a long time, the lands in the Vologda region belonged to the Kudryavy nobles, who made significant contributions to the development of the region by building a hospital and providing assistance to those in need. Later, the estate was inherited by the daughter of the family head, Alexandra Andreevna, and it was under her that 'Gorka' began to actively develop.

The center of the estate became a two-story wooden mansion, whose architecture reflects the features of late classicism: harmonious proportions, balanced volumes, and finely drawn details. Although the estate was not luxurious, it was festive and cozy. In the summer, locals loved to drink tea on the veranda, while chess and billiards were played in the living room. Balls were often held here, and at Christmas, the tree was decorated with ornaments. The area around the house was carefully landscaped: nearby was a shady garden with a gazebo, a greenhouse with blooming roses, jasmine, and acacias. In the improvised park, hammocks were hung between the trees in the summer so that children could relax in the fresh air.

The Galsky nobles did not lead a idle lifestyle. In 1897, they joined the Northern Agricultural Society and sought to make their farm one of the most productive in the region. They built cheese and butter factories, organized a large apiary, raised poultry, and bred large and small cattle.

After the October Revolution of 1917, the history of the estate effectively came to an end. A state farm 'Gorka' was established here, and the owners were left with only a few rooms for living. In 1923, the Galskys were evicted from the estate. The complete restoration of the unique noble estate was only finished in 2008, and now it houses the historical and ethnographic museum 'Galsky Estate'.
