In the wing of an old Simbirsk estate is the "Carpentry Workshop" museum, where the history of craftsmanship in Simbirsk is presented across three halls.

The exclusive museum map combines data from four maps: the administrative map of the Simbirsk province from 1864, a map of the province's forests from the 19th century, a map of the modern Ulyanovsk region, and a map of the distribution of crafts and trades. Visitors can learn a lot about the past of Simbirsk land, for example, about the village of Kadyshево, known for its felt makers, the village of Baltayevka, famous for its ropes and cords, and about Sukhoi Karsun, where potters made even clay samovars.

Old workbenches, lathes, and numerous tools recreate the atmosphere of a carpentry workshop, where the master, apprentice, and students worked.

Wood shavings on the floor, simple food on the dining table, and samples of furniture created by the hands of talented but nameless Simbirsk carpenters create the impression of their living presence.
