The first Museum of the USSR in Russia was opened in Novosibirsk on April 12, 2009, the day when Soviet pilot-cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin made his historic flight into space.
Regardless of our attitude towards the USSR today, it cannot be denied that this phenomenon had a significant impact on the history of the 20th century.
The museum organizers aim to promote social peace, establish a dialogue between the "Soviet" and "post-Soviet" generations, develop tourism in Novosibirsk, and preserve the disappearing historical and cultural heritage.
The museum features portraits of leaders, photographs of movie stars, busts, sports trophies, cameras, radios, as well as household appliances, postcards, medals, badges, and stamps, all of which were produced in the USSR.
The Museum of the USSR, managed by the public organization "Cultural Heritage," is located in a house with a mezzanine at: ul. Maxim Gorky, 16.
