The only Museum of "Moonshine" in Russia invites you to immerse yourself in a unique folk culture through rare exhibits. Here you can taste history at a tasting, become a participant in ancient rituals and customs. The museum features unique exhibits such as the prototype of the first moonshine still, a medal for drunkenness, Peter's penalty cup, helmets and equipment of the special agent, as well as weapons from World War I. You will find 11 themed photo zones and over 1500 exhibits, including a huge collection of shot glasses, goblets, decanters, and bottles from different eras. You will learn the history of the first alcohol and the origins of expressions such as "to be tipsy", "to drown one's eyes", "five drops", "as simple as three kopecks", "to drink until tipsy". You will also hear about traditions, such as breaking dishes for good luck, not leaving empty bottles on the table, and drinking standing up for ladies. The history of Russian everyday life is closely intertwined with the history of the state and folk creativity related to moonshining. Conclude your visit with a tasting of elite varieties of moonshine to better understand this popular folk art.
