The museum of writer I. S. Shmelev is located in the western part of Alushta, in the center of Professor's Corner. It was opened and consecrated on September 21, 1993, coinciding with the 120th anniversary of the writer's birth. The museum is housed in a building erected in the early 19th century, which belonged to chemist V. N. Beketov, the brother of architect A. N. Beketov.

The museum's exhibition introduces visitors to the life and work of I. S. Shmelev in pre-revolutionary Moscow, during the Civil War in Alushta, and during his emigration in France. The museum serves as a scientific center for studying Shmelev's creative legacy and the literature of the Russian diaspora. Since 1990, the Crimean International Shmelev Readings and Assemblies have been held here, featuring representatives from science, education, and culture from Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Germany, France, the USA, Canada, Finland, Poland, and Japan. Collections of scientific works are published based on the materials from these readings.

The main exhibits of the museum include furniture and items from the 19th and 20th centuries, authentic photographs, documents, and letters from I. S. Shmelev's archive, lifetime editions of the writer, as well as icons and paintings by artist M. I. Sapozhnikov from the 20th century.

The I. S. Shmelev Museum is included in pilgrimage tours of the holy places of Crimea and actively participates in the educational program "Museum, School."
