The "Petrovskaya Toy" Folk Crafts Museum is dedicated to the traditional craft of the Kostroma region, the Petrovskaya clay toy. This art originated and developed in the village of Petrovskoye, but it has now nearly disappeared. In the museum, you can see works by renowned masters such as Pavel Ivanov, Mikhail Shmarov, and Svetlana Pimanova, as well as unique creations by other artisans from Russia and around the world. The exhibition features about 1000 exhibits.

Mikhail Shmarov and Svetlana Pimanova, the founders of the museum, strive to preserve this nearly extinct craft. They not only introduce visitors to the pottery art of the Kostroma region but also offer workshops on making whistles. Museum guests can watch as a simple lump of clay transforms into a piece of folk art, an ocarina, or as it is called, a whistle, in just a few minutes. The most creative visitors can try their hand at shaping a pot on the potter's wheel.
