The Museum of the Leib-Guard Cossack Regiment was founded in St. Petersburg thanks to the initiative and funding of the officers of His Majesty's Leib-Guard Cossack Regiment. All further additions and support for the museum were also carried out by their efforts and resources. After evacuation from Petrograd, the museum was initially located in rented premises in Aignere, near Paris. In the 1940s, it acquired its own spacious stone building at 12 rue St Guillame Courlevoie, Seine, France, and also opened a branch in Brussels at the Royal Museum of the Army.

The museum's exhibition features banners, uniforms, paintings, and awards of the Russian Imperial Army, with a special emphasis on the Guard and Cossacks. Among the exhibits, one can see the saddle of Ataman Platov and the uniform of General Wrangel, who was the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Army.

The museum is a private cultural institution with a special access regime.
