Museum 'Kursk Nightingale'

The Museum 'Kursk Nightingale' was opened in Kursk on June 4, 2007, on a day popularly known as Nightingale Day. It is dedicated to the nightingale, a living symbol of the Kursk region. The idea to create the museum was proposed and implemented by Lyubov Nikolaevna Yeremina. Since October 20, 2017, the museum has become part of the Kursk Regional Local History Museum and has received state institution status.

The museum is located in a separate room and includes one hall, where more than 700 authentic exhibits related to nightingales are collected. Extensive information about this amazing bird is presented here. The museum's exhibition is diverse and covers various aspects of human life; it is educational and fascinating. Visitors can learn why the nightingale is called the ruler and soothsayer of souls, how the fame of Kursk nightingales arose, why the nightingale is a symbol of the region, why partridges are depicted on the coat of arms, and why it is called 'the main music of war.' The museum attracts more than 5,000 visitors annually.
