Mariupol Art Museum named after A. I. Kuinji.

In July 1914, a letter arrived at the Mariupol City Duma from the Moscow branch of the Society of Artists named after A. I. Kuinji. The letter offered the city ten paintings by the great master, but there was no space in Mariupol to accommodate them. Soon, World War I began, and the opening of the art museum named after A. I. Kuinji was postponed throughout the 20th century. Only on October 29, 2010, a hundred years after the death of the famous artist Arkhip Ivanovich Kuinji, was the museum finally opened in his hometown.

The museum is located in an old mansion built in 1902 in the northern Art Nouveau style. This house was a wedding gift from the chairman of the Mariupol Zemstvo Administration, Gazadinov, to his daughter Valentina on the occasion of her marriage to Vasily Ivanovich Geotsintov, the founder of the Mariupol Real School. After the revolution, the building was nationalized and initially housed a library, and later the Historical Party Archive.
