The village of Uchma is located on the right bank of the Volga between Myshkin and Uglich. The museum occupies a picturesque area with dense pines and a view of the river and chapel on the peninsula, where in the 15th century, Saint Cassian of Uchma founded a monastery.

The Museum of Cassian Desert offers a journey along the path of Saint Cassian, who, as Prince Konstantin of Mangup, traveled through Crimea, Byzantium, Renaissance Rome, Moscow, and Ferapontovo, encompassing space and time from the Middle Ages to the present day.

The Museum of Fate of the Russian Village is dedicated to the village as a phenomenon, the Russian Atlantis. Here, on an emotional level, it shows what the Russian and Soviet village looked and sounded like in all its beauty and tragedy. In the barn, one can "walk through the village," "live" its life, touch items that were recently used. Here, you can try on the clothes that were worn, sit on the porch, crack sunflower seeds, and listen to the memories of local residents.

Both exhibitions are housed in authentic 19th-century barns, where authentic exhibits harmoniously blend with contemporary art and interactive display methods.
