The Ivan Sergeyevich Yarygin Museum in Sizaya village opened its doors to visitors on August 20, 1999, almost two years after the tragic death of this outstanding athlete. It is the only museum in Russia dedicated to a sportsman.

Ivan Sergeyevich Yarygin was a legendary wrestler and an outstanding figure in the history of domestic and world sports. He achieved heights in three complex areas of sporting glory: as an athlete, coach, and sports leader.

The museum is located in the building of the Moscow Secondary School named after I. S. Yarygin and occupies an area of 230 square meters. Visitors can learn about his sports, coaching, public, and personal life through photo and video materials. The exhibition includes personal belongings, documents, commemorative medals, trophies, and books of the great Olympic champion.

Particular attention is given to authentic exhibits from his parental home: a huge frying pan, a roasting pan, a two-bucket cast iron pot, a sewing machine, an icon, and a Bible. A composition of the tools used by the Yarygin family, which Ivan himself used, such as an anvil with a sledgehammer, an eight-bucket bag, a container for collecting berries, mushrooms, nuts, and carrying fish, a scythe, and a splitting maul, helps to understand how Ivan Yarygin gained his phenomenal strength, endurance, agility, and flexibility.

In a separate showcase, books written by I. S. Yarygin about his sports and life journey are presented, as well as discs and audio cassettes with recordings of songs and tournaments created after his death. The sports clothing of the Siberian athlete, who has an athletic figure in the weight category up to 100 kg, particularly interests visitors.

Being the only museum in the region dedicated to a sportsman, the I. S. Yarygin Museum aims to promote the formation of a well-rounded, physically strong, and healthy person, a patriot of their region and country, through the example of the great compatriot's life.

Every year, the museum is visited by children and youth. New generations of Russians can learn a lot from the champion and person I. S. Yarygin. The museum contributes to spiritual development, fosters a desire to lead a healthy lifestyle, engage in sports, and follow the example of their legendary compatriot.
