The Museum of the History of Public Education is located in the building of the former Gamskaya Secondary School, built in 1901 according to the design of architect Druzhinin. This building was erected in just three months without the use of nails. On October 28, 1996, a museum dedicated to the history of public education in the Ust-Vym District opened in one of the classrooms.

The museum's exhibition includes unique exhibits that illustrate the development of school education from the first half of the 19th century to the present day. Among them are photographs of preserved school buildings, the craft school in the village of Aikino, the first craft school in the Republic of Komi, as well as pictures of teachers and students. The collection features school supplies, textbooks in Russian and Komi languages, a handmade notebook, and school and pioneer uniforms. Special attention is given to the stand dedicated to Pitirim Sorokin, a sociologist who graduated from this school.
