In 2006, a private Cossack museum and memorial complex opened in the ancient Cossack stanitsa of Yelanskaya, which is considered the largest Cossack museum in the world. The exhibition features artifacts covering all historical periods of Cossack life. Visitors can learn about the origins of the Cossacks, their culture, traditions, as well as their military and civil service in Russia.

The complex is home to numerous monuments, most of which are dedicated to the Civil War. The most significant is the sculpture of General of Cavalry Pyotr Nikolaevich Krasnov, a renowned Cossack ataman, hero of World War I, writer, and émigré. However, this is just one of many monuments presented here. Almost all the sculptures were created by the famous master Konstantin Rodionovich Chernyavsky, known for creating monuments to Peter and Fevronia in various cities of Russia.

The museum belongs to Don Cossack Vladimir Petrovich Melikhov, who took the initiative to create this extensive museum complex. Today, it is a popular place for Cossacks and history enthusiasts. The memorial is located a few kilometers from the stanitsa of Veshenskaya and serves as an excellent place for studying history and relaxing in the Don region.
