On February 3, 1991, at the initiative of the Karakulinsky District Executive Committee and local historian V.S. Butorin, the Museum of the History of Karakulinsky District was opened. It became a branch of the Sarapul Museum of History and Culture of the Middle Pri Kama and is located in the former estate of merchant Illarion Fotiyevich Vedernikov, in his son's house. The building is a monument of wooden architecture from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

The museum's exhibitions include several main sections: the history of the Karakulinsky District, the merchant section, the nature section, the archaeology section, and the Great Patriotic War section.

The history section highlights key stages in the development of the Karakulinsky District. Exhibits of household utensils tell about daily life and crafts. The museum's stands narrate the establishment of Soviet power in the district, the emergence of the first pioneer squads and Komsomol cells, as well as outstanding individuals and production leaders.

The merchant section is presented as a room recreating the interior of that time and contains information about the rich history of Karakulino as a merchant village.

The nature section is one of the most interesting places for visitors. It showcases the diverse and colorful animal and plant life of the Pri Kama region.

The archaeology section covers various monuments, from the earliest Stone Age, the Paleolithic, to the early 19th century.
