The history of the Nolina Museum of History and Local Lore began in 1924 when priest Vladimir Emelyanov, a graduate of the Imperial Archive Institute, founded it. He collected exhibits on botany, archaeology, numismatics, and zoology, and created an exhibition of ancient burial sites of primitive humans. However, in 1954, the museum was closed, and its collections were moved to the regional center.

In the late 1980s, thanks to the initiative of R. M. Solovyova, a movement to restore the museum began. Veterans, schoolchildren, and working collectives actively participated in cleanup days, and on July 1, 1994, the museum reopened. A year later, a Hall of Military Glory was established, dedicated to participants of the Great Patriotic War. Under the guidance of L. Ya. Kozlova, a 'merchant's room' was arranged, and a collection of peasant life was initiated.

The next director, O. I. Kosareva, together with local historian N. I. Romanov, created the exhibition 'The World of Birds.' Later, T. Yu. Zyablitseva implemented the idea of creating an exhibition of local animals. With the support of local hunters and a nature conservation fund, the museum acquired stuffed predatory and fur-bearing animals. Exhibitions such as 'Peasant Hut,' 'Merchant's Shop,' 'Radio Engineering Hall,' 'History of Education in the Nolina District,' and 'Industry and Agriculture of the District' were also created. The museum constantly updates its exhibitions and conducts thematic tours. This year, it was included in the list of the 'Golden Ring of Museums of the Region.'

The museum continues to develop, and wishes for a long life and grateful visitors.

Addition: The first attempts to create a museum in Nolina began in 1918, and on September 20, 1920, under the leadership of Nikolai Konstantinovich Razumovsky, it opened to its first visitors. In the first four years, the museum changed three buildings. In 1924, it was located next to the public library on Nolina Street (now Lenin Street), and Vladimir Emelyanov became its director. The museum now includes 18 permanent exhibitions, such as the merchant's parlor, peasant hut, matryoshka museum, gingerbread and lemonade museum, and others.
