The Museum of the History of the City of Zaozyorny in the Rybinsk District has been operating as a municipal institution since January 2001.

Its collections hold over 3,500 exhibits, including items, photographs, and documents donated by the residents of the city and the district. Because of this, the local cultural community refers to the museum as a people's museum.

Particular attention in the formation of the collections is given to the history of the Zaozyorny Mica Factory, which was the city's founding enterprise and the only one of its kind in the Krasnoyarsk Territory. The history of the city and its residents is closely linked to this factory, which is an important part of life in Zaozyorny. Although production no longer exists, the museum strives to preserve the memory of this enterprise, which is equivalent to preserving the memory of the life and fate of the city from 1932 to the present day.

The museum features an exhibition hall for changing thematic exhibitions, as well as permanent displays: "From the Depths of the Ages," "Russian House," "From the History of the Mica Factory," and the hall of the city's history.
