Museum of the History of Yekaterinburg

Фото 1
The Museum of the History of Yekaterinburg is one of the oldest museums in the city, having started its activities in 1940. In 1995, it underwent significant changes and transformed from the Memorial Museum of Sverdlov into the museum of the city's history, receiving a new name and status.

The museum's goal is to study and popularize the history of Yekaterinburg, which contributes to strengthening the urban community and forming regional identity. To achieve these goals, the museum organizes exhibitions, educational programs, and research projects aimed at collecting, restoring, and preserving unique artifacts from the 17th to the 21st century.

The museum actively explores themes of urban everyday life and culture from the 18th to the 21st century. Exhibitions dedicated to private stories and ordinary objects reveal the everyday dimension of the city's history, conveying the spirit and meaning of bygone eras.

Traditional methods of museum presentation are complemented by alternative ways of interacting with visitors, including various channels of perception such as touch and smell, which deepens the experience of getting to know the city.

Modern technologies allow visitors to instantly 'travel' through time, moving from the 18th century to the 21st century, transforming into ancient artists and reproducing rock paintings, as well as learning about the phenomenon of 'honorary citizenship' and outstanding residents of Yekaterinburg-Sverdlovsk.

The museum houses a Children's Museum Center that stimulates the creative and cognitive activity of children. Its structure includes an exhibition hall, a theatrical research area, and a creative workshop. Here, theatrical and artistic master classes, reconstructions of folk holidays, and interactive history lessons about the city are held.
