Residents and guests of the city can immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the 19th century by visiting the Urban Life Museum in Uglich, which showcases the lifestyle and customs of a provincial county town.

This small wooden house, located in the center of Uglich, was built in the mid-19th century as a tea house for merchant Kashinov. Later, it housed the city public library, and since 2004, it has been the Urban Life Museum of the 19th century. Among its exhibits, one can see rare crafts and antique everyday items.

The first hall of the museum is designed to resemble part of a trading arcade. In the "showcases" of merchant shops, various goods are displayed: ceramic dishes, Tula samovars, tea boxes, boots, tiles, and travel bags.

In the second hall, visitors find themselves in the home of an average Uglich resident. Here, in the owner's study, the living room, and the maid's light room, one can see antique furniture, carved chairs, armchairs, and tables from the 19th century, as well as dishes, vintage photographs, and sheet music.

The museum offers not only the chance to view exhibits but also to learn how weddings and holidays were celebrated in the city. Those interested can have their photos taken in costumes styled after the 19th century, created based on fashion magazines and catalogs of that time. On the first floor of the museum, there is a tea room decorated in the style of the previous century, where tea is served "Uglich-style" from a samovar along with traditional pastries.
