The museum-diorama 'Kursk Bulge. Belgorod Direction' is the most visited museum in Belgorod and is dedicated to the Prokhorovka tank battle. Construction began in December 1984 and was completed in November 1985. On May 9, 1985, the 'Hall of Military Glory' was opened with a temporary photo exhibition. After the ceremonial events, the museum was closed to complete the work on the diorama. The official opening of the museum-diorama took place on August 4, 1987, and on August 4, 1993, the permanent exhibition 'On the Scorched Earth' was opened. In 2007 and 2008, the exhibition featured a sensory kiosk with military-themed presentations and an electronic Book of Memory with access to the Ministry of Defense website 'OBD Memorial'.

The museum building is shaped like a bulge and stands on a high pedestal. In front of the entrance are a tank IS-3, a self-propelled gun ISU-152, three mortars, and an artillery piece. Due to the renovation of the main building, the exhibition on the Battle of Kursk and temporary exhibitions are temporarily located at: Michurina St., 43. The updated diorama was supposed to welcome its first visitors by May 9, 2021.

On the open area behind the main building, equipment from the Great Patriotic War period is displayed, although none of the exhibits participated in the Battle of Kursk, as they were adopted into service after August 1943. In 2008, the museum building underwent major repairs.

The diorama 'Prokhorovka Tank Battle' is the largest in Russia. It is dedicated to the battle near Prokhorovka on July 12, 1943, which became a turning point in the Battle of Kursk. The diorama was created by battle artists from the M. B. Grekov studio: N. But, G. Sevastyanov, and V. Shcherbakov. The canvas area is 1005 m², its length is 67 meters, and its height is 15 meters. Between the painting and the viewing platform is a relief model of the terrain covering more than 500 sq. m. The artists recreated the events visible from a height of 252.2 m, showing the battle of the 5th Guards Tank Army and the combat formations of the 29th Tank Corps.
