Originally, the Museum of Decorative Arts and Modern Art was located within the Tula Kremlin in the building of a former power station. It now welcomes visitors on the historic pedestrian street Metallists, 12, in the center of Tula, where important city events take place.

The museum's exhibition consists of authentic items from the funds of the State Budgetary Institution of Culture of the Tula Region "Union of Decorative Arts."

In the first hall, one can see traditional handmade items that reflect the mythology of folk art with its agricultural rituals, calendar cycles, and pantheon of pagan gods. This allows visitors to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of peasant life in the 19th and early 20th centuries.

The second hall is dedicated to the lifestyle of affluent townspeople. Here, both handmade products and factory-made items, often of European origin, are presented. A particular highlight is the collection of mantel clocks with exquisite finishes made of bronze, onyx, and malachite, which served not only to tell time but also to adorn interiors. Visitors will also be interested in boudoirs, diverse in shape and finish, elegant kerosene lamps, and charming trinkets such as snuff boxes, beaded purses, and jewelry boxes.

The items of decorative and applied art presented in the exhibition demonstrate the high artistic skill of their creators.
