The Archaeology Museum in Cherepovets has been operating for many years, and its collection of archaeological finds is one of the largest in the Northwest. The museum's holdings contain over 100,000 exhibits, ranging in age from 10,000 to 600 years. Among them, one can find unique items such as amber jewelry from the 1st millennium BC, a chess piece from the 10th century, as well as jewelry and cult objects depicting animals.

This extensive collection was gathered thanks to numerous archaeological expeditions. The museum serves as a center for archaeological research in the Vologda region, conducting excavations in the Sheksna, Belozersk, Kirillov, and other areas.

The museum's exhibition introduces visitors to the main archaeological sites of the region and unique exhibits that allow for a deeper understanding of the past. It tells the story of where the first settlers established themselves in modern Cherepovets, how they lived, what they hunted, and what crafts they practiced.
