The Archaeology and Ethnography Museum in Ufa, opened in 1980, has the largest collection of rare artifacts discovered during excavations and research in the Volga region, Siberia, and central Russia.

The museum's funds hold nearly 200,000 historical treasures, among which items from ancient settlements in Bashkortostan stand out. The museum takes pride in having a real mammoth skeleton and a model of the Shulgan-Tash cave, known for its ancient paintings. On its walls, unknown artists depicted animals and left mysterious signs thousands of years ago.

The museum is also famous for its ancient collection of gold artifacts and often organizes traveling exhibitions. Its collection has been displayed in Germany, Italy, and Sweden. In collaboration with the Hermitage, the museum showcased its precious collection at the Metropolitan Museum in the USA and at the Palazzo Reale in Italy.

Today, the museum staff actively engages in educational activities, introducing visitors to the history of the Ural region and the culture of its peoples. Among the permanent exhibitions, there are four displays. One of them, "Archaeology of the Southern Urals," tells about the life of ancient people who inhabited this territory.

If you are interested in the life of nomads, visit the exhibition "The World of Bashkir Culture," which presents the life of the people from the 19th century. Here you can see a real yurt and learn about traditional crafts such as horse breeding and fishing. The museum also features clothing, jewelry, and household items of local ethnic groups.

Additionally, research work continues: scientists and students participate in archaeological and ethnographic expeditions.
