The art museum was founded by Vitaly Vavilin in 2011. Its collection features paintings and graphic works by Russian artists who worked in the realistic style from the mid-20th century to the present day. The museum's holdings contain about 2,000 works.

Since 2012, the museum has actively organized exhibitions, held competitions for professional artists, collaborated with creative unions and cultural institutions, and published art books. The museum hosts workshops for children and adults, as well as lectures.

Since February 2019, the museum has been located in a new building with an exhibition area of 1,200 sq. m.
