The Museum and Crafts House in the city of Pokhvistnevo, Samara region, began its work on May 9, 1995. It employs 13 staff members and 3 researchers. The museum's collection includes over 20,000 items, of which 15,000 are displayed in the exhibition and are part of the main funds. The museum originated in 1991 based on the Pioneer House as a local history club 'Istoki' and was opened in 1995 in the building of a former savings bank. In 1988, it received the status of 'School Museum', and since 2001 it has been a municipal city museum. Since 2007, it has operated within the structure of the Museum and Crafts House. It is the only place in the city and district where one can learn about the history of the native land. The museum features exhibitions: 'Peasant Hut', 'Nature and Archaeology of the Region', 'Merchant's Living Room', 'Our Fellow Countrymen, Participants in Wars', 'Orthodox Books and Icons', 'History of the City', as well as temporary exhibitions in two halls that are updated every two months. Interactive classes and excursions to the villages of the Pokhvistnevo district are regularly conducted. In 2007, the museum moved to a two-story building. In 2010, it won the competition 'Changing Museum in a Changing World'. The 'City of Wind' project is implemented in the form of a non-profit institution, not aimed at profit extraction and not distributing income among participants. The museum is a municipal organization primarily engaged in cultural and mass activities.
