Moscow Ducal Office

Фото 1
The two-story stone building of rectangular shape with risalits in the courtyard is located in the northern part of the site along the red line of Gogolevsky Boulevard. It was built on the basis of stone vaulted chambers from the 17th century. By the end of the 18th century, there was a estate of the noble Tsurikov family. In the first third of the 19th century, the estate belonged to Mikhail Petrovich Naryshkin, the father of the Decembrist Mikhail Naryshkin and the founder of the Spaso-Borodinsky Monastery, Margarita Tuchkova.

In 1830, the estate was acquired by the Moscow Ducal Department, which managed the property of the imperial family in 1797 and 1917. In 1880, the building underwent reconstruction: the facade was adorned with decorative elements and a cornice, and the corner projections were made in the style of ancient Russian pryasla of northern churches. The facades of the mansion are designed in the neo-Russian style using various brick elements and cornices, among which stand out the "brick tooth," "dry loaf," and "stepped modillion." Overall, the building has retained its original volumetric-planning structure, although some rooms have been altered by later partitions. Original elements of architectural decor in the interiors have been preserved: ornate metal railings of the staircases, arches, vaulted ceilings of the semi-basement, and fragments of plaster decor on the walls.
