Today we will tell you about another unique temple in Moscow, built in the 16th century and consecrated in honor of the Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Before the stone church was erected, there stood an older wooden Conception Church on this site, destroyed by fire in 1493. After that, in the first half of the 16th century, a new stone church was built, funded by wealthy residents of the city.

The southern chapel appeared after the coronation of the first tsar from the Romanov dynasty and was consecrated in honor of the great martyr Mina of Koutouan, venerated in Russia. The northern altar was consecrated later in honor of Saint Catherine the Great Martyr, the patroness of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich's daughter.

The history of the Church of the Conception of Anna spans over 450 years, and during this time the temple has been restored multiple times. The first significant works took place in 1752 thanks to the merchant Zamyatina. An interesting fact is related to one of the bells of St. Basil's Cathedral, which previously belonged to this church. The bell was cast in France at the expense of merchant Ivan Grigoryev in 1547 in memory of his parents.

During the Time of Troubles, the bell was stolen but later returned by Dmitry Pozharsky. However, the ancient interiors of the church, destroyed during the Soviet era, could not be restored. After the revolution, the church was desecrated and remained in neglect for a long time, despite its premises being used by various institutions. The Soviet period inflicted significant damage on the church, and it was only returned to the faithful in 1994. Now, services are held in the church, and parish life is actively ongoing.
