The residents of Syktyvkar mainly know about the Holy-Macarius Monastery thanks to the honey that can be purchased in stores. Those who have tried this monastic honey once do not want anything else. Regular customers claim it is healing and floral, helping with various ailments.

The monastery was recently founded in the village of Arkhipovka in the south of the Republic of Komi, under the guidance of the abbot Father Ioann (Bugayev). In 1998, the Holy-Macarius Skete appeared here. Initially, it was a women's skete, led by the nun Makaria (Parshukova). The skete was allocated land and given an abandoned school building. However, the sisters found it difficult to organize monastic life. Last year, the bishop decided to transform the women's skete into a men's monastery and appointed Father Ioann (Bugayev) as the abbot, after which work began in earnest. The brotherhood gathered, started clearing the area for the monastery located in the center of the village. More than forty truckloads of junk and garbage were removed. The brotherhood building was renovated, rotting parts of the residential house were replaced, stoves were rebuilt, and the monastery was fenced.

Currently, the farm grows potatoes, raises livestock, and has begun construction of a two-story monastery house. The monks and novices live together in one large house with four rooms, heated by two stoves. There are ten people in total: three monks, three novices, and four workers. The house has a prayer room, a locksmith workshop, and a bedroom.

There is a project for the future monastery, which includes a beautiful log fortress wall with a tall bell tower above the main entrance. The Church of Macarius the Great will be located in the center of the monastery, combining grandeur and simplicity, and will be built from round logs.
