The men's monastery dedicated to John the Baptist is located in a picturesque area. On the way from Limassol to Troodos, just after the village of Trimiklini, the climbs become steeper. Here, nature changes dramatically: coniferous forests appear, which is unusual for those familiar with Cyprus only from its coastline. This is where the Troodos mountain range begins. The monastery of John the Baptist is situated on the southern slope of Troodos among the coniferous forest.

In this monastery, Father Prodromos published the book 'Romanovs', which is considered the best historical research of the last years of the Russian tsars.
