In accordance with the resolution of the Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church and with the blessing of Bishop Theophilakt of Bryansk and Sevsk, a prayer house in honor of St. John Chrysostom was opened in the village of Smialch, Gordeevsky district of the Klintsy deanery. On November 26, 2011, in the new premises, the dean of the Klintsy district, Archpriest Vasily Volikov, and the rector of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos Church in the village of Gordeevka, Priest Vladimir Penyaz, held a moleben for St. John Chrysostom and conducted a procession around the prayer house.
By the order of the district administration, the wooden house, which previously housed the village library, was transferred for the use of the Klintsy deanery. The building had long been neglected, but thanks to the efforts of the Orthodox residents of the village and the district, it has been renovated. The village administration assisted in improving the surrounding area and the interior finishing of the premises. Currently, the construction of a dome for the prayer house is nearly complete, and an Orthodox library is also being organized.
