Tamara Platonovna Karsavina (March 10, 1885 - May 26, 1978) was a Russian prima ballerina renowned for her beauty. She performed with the Imperial Russian Ballet and later in the Russian Seasons under the direction of Sergei Diaghilev.

After moving to Hampstead, London, Tamara Karsavina began teaching ballet and became one of the founders of modern British ballet. She played a significant role in the creation of the Royal Ballet and was among the founders of the Royal Academy of Dance, which is now the largest dance education organization in the world.
