The grave of Russian soldiers who participated in the joint British-Dutch expedition of 1799 against France is located in Guernsey. After the unsuccessful operation, the allied forces awaited their return to Russia on the islands of Guernsey and Jersey for several months. Soldiers who died from wounds and diseases in 1800 were buried near Vale Castle in Guernsey. In 1928, the cemetery was moved closer to the castle wall.
