Murzinka, a small village in the Urals, is one of the oldest settlements in the Gorno-Uralsky urban district. It is here, in the homeland of the first Ural potters, that the extraction of the famous Ural gemstones began. Subsequently, the A. E. Fersman Mineralogical Museum was established in this location, with only one similar museum existing in Moscow.

The Fersman Mineralogical Museum in Murzinka was founded in 1964 by the renowned local geologist and potter Ivan Ivanovich Zverev, the grandson of Danila Kondratievich Zverev, the prototype of the hero from Bazhov's work "Danila the Master." The museum is named after Academician Alexander Evgenievich Fersman.

The museum is housed in the oldest building in Murzinka, the Sretenskaya Church, built in 1729 and one of the oldest churches in the Urals. In the year of the village's 325th anniversary, local residents, under the guidance of Zverev and Cheskidov, created the museum's first exhibition, consisting of unique Ural gemstones. In 1973, the museum expanded and moved to a new building, and in 1992 it was officially renamed and registered as part of the museum complex of the Mountain Urals.

This unique museum attracts visitors from all over the country and neighboring countries. At the Fersman Mineralogical Museum, one can learn about the methods of extracting Ural gemstones, the process of mineral formation and their properties, as well as the life of local potters.

The museum features not only Ural gemstones but also rare specimens of stones from around the world. Thematic exhibitions tell about unusual places of crystal birth, such as the Polar Ural.

The "Ethnography of the Village of Murzinka" hall showcases traditional household items of residents from the late 19th and early 20th centuries and the interior of a potter's house.

The "History of Gemstone Mining" hall is dedicated to the development of gemstone extraction in the Urals in the 18th century, the development of the Murzinka-Aduy strip, and the local gem-cutting school.

The "History of the Region Studied by Academician Fersman" hall recounts Fersman's visits in 1912 and 1922 and his research.

The "Work of the Nevyansk Geological Exploration Party" hall is dedicated to the activities of the Nevyansk geological exploration party, which studied pegmatite veins and discovered unique minerals, such as the "Victory" topaz weighing over 43 kilograms.

The "Mineralogy of Pegmatites" hall is filled with a variety of Ural gemstones, including rare specimens from deposits such as Staraia Mylnitsa and Mokrusha. Here, one can see unique Ural amethysts with unusual coloring.
