Valentin Leonidovich Mindovsky was an outstanding forester and specialist in landscaping. For over thirty years, he worked on the greening of the cities of Berezniki and Perm and developed the method "nursery-garden".

Valentin Leonidovich was born on April 23, 1909, in Vichuga, into the family of merchants and manufacturers Mindovsky, who held the status of hereditary Honorary Citizens of the Russian Empire.

In 1928, he graduated from the Forestry Department of the Kostroma Land Management and Forestry Technical School as a forestry technician. He continued his correspondence studies at the Moscow and Leningrad Forestry Institutes.

In 1936 and 1954, Mindovsky headed the Berezniki "Gorzelenstroy," transforming Berezniki into a garden city. Later, he moved to Perm, where he also led landscaping efforts.

Mindovsky was a true Russian intellectual, known for his high demands on himself and his pursuit of knowledge and improvement in his work. He created the concept of "Nursery, Park," which he successfully implemented in Berezniki together with I.M. Chesnokov and A.I. Beskrovnykh. He was able to organize work so that both adults and children participated in planting and caring for greenery, which turned the city into a green oasis in the summer.

Valentin Mindovsky also established "green belts" connecting urban green areas with suburban forests, ensuring a flow of clean air into the city center. He wrote numerous articles and books, such as "Green Construction," "Nursery-Park," and "Green Friend," as well as a scientific work titled "Greening Northern Cities."

He was popularly known as the "manager of clean air, nature, and beauty." Mindovsky himself described his work as follows: "A landscaper must combine the qualities of a painter, an architect, and, if you will, even a poet."

Valentin Leonidovich passed away in 1974 in Perm.
