This monument of history and Russian Orthodox architecture is located in Yaroslavl, at the intersection of the Kotorosl River embankment and May Day Street. The tower was built between 1636 and 1647 and was part of the monastery's defensive complex, primarily serving a protective function. Therefore, Mikhailovskaya Tower, named after the nearby Archangel Michael Church, externally resembles the Mother of God and Uglich Towers of the Spaso-Preobrazhensky Monastery, located to the southeast of it. In 1804, the tower was reconstructed, and it has remained in this form to this day. After the renovation, it acquired more decorative than military significance. This hexagonal structure has a rectangular entrance, with arched false windows on each side, and round ones above them. The tower's dome is adorned with a pointed spire, giving it an elegant appearance.
