The Michurinsk Local History Museum, one of the oldest cultural centers in the city, showcases documentary and material evidence of history, works of art, as well as the flora and fauna of the native region.
Currently, the museum has departments for history, art, and nature. The exhibition features items belonging to outstanding figures in the history, science, and culture of the city of Kozlov-Michurinsk. Special attention is given to the constantly updated exhibition dedicated to Michurinsk, a science city in Russia. Here, visitors can see photographs and documents related to research institutions and leading scientists in the field of horticulture.
The museum's nature department houses a zoological collection that introduces the animal world of the region and its conservation. The fauna of the Tambov region is presented with consideration of local characteristics, geographical and biological patterns, as well as the interconnections of natural laws and processes. Today, the museum, the oldest repository of historical monuments in the city, holds about 14,000 items in its main collection. The museum's collections are regularly replenished with new documentary, material, and visual materials. Each year, more than 10,000 people visit the museum.
