The Memorial Museum of Composer Georgy Vasilyevich Sviridov was opened in honor of the 90th anniversary of his birth and is a branch of the Kursk Regional Local History Museum.

The museum is located in an old mansion, where in the early 20th century the postal and telegraph office was situated on two floors, while the third floor was allocated for staff apartments. One of these apartments was given to the composer's father, V. G. Sviridov. It was here, on December 16, 1915, that Georgy Sviridov was born.

The museum's exhibition covers 115 square meters and encompasses all stages of the composer's life and work. It includes his childhood years in his native Fatezh, periods of life in Kursk, Leningrad, and Moscow, as well as his entire creative path. The museum halls are adorned with early 20th-century furniture, and the first musical instrument of Sviridov, a Becker piano purchased in 1920, has been preserved. The exhibition features rare documents, photographs, scores, and personal belongings of the composer, creating a special atmosphere.

In 2006, a bust of the composer, created by the People's Artist of the USSR M. K. Anikushin, was transferred to the museum.

In Sviridov's homeland, all-Russian music festivals are held, featuring renowned performers and choral groups.

The building of the museum is designated as a federal architectural monument.

The museum is visited by about 3,000 people annually.
