Anna Pavlovna Matveevna, born on February 12 (January 31) 1881 and passed away on January 23, 1931, was a Russian prima ballerina of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. She performed as a soloist of the Imperial Russian Ballet and participated in Sergei Diaghilev's Russian Seasons. Pavlova is best known for creating the role of "The Dying Swan" and became the first ballerina to tour the world with her own company.
