The memorial complex measuring 30 by 55 meters includes a square and paths paved with concrete slabs. In the center of the composition stands a sculpture of a soldier with a cloak thrown over his shoulders, holding a rifle in his right hand. The burial mound is framed with marble tiles, and the pedestal of the monument is designed as a concrete wall. An Eternal Flame burns in the square, and there is also lighting and green plantings. The complex was established in 1970.

The main attraction of Aleshin is the memorial complex in Victory Square. Here lies General-Lieutenant G. P. Korotkov, who commanded the 238th Rifle Division that defended and liberated Aleshin in 1941. Gennady Petrovich Korotkov (19.08.1898, 22.11.1982) led the division that freed the city from Nazi invaders in December 1941 while holding the rank of colonel during the Great Patriotic War. He is buried in Victory Square, and in 1965 he was awarded the title of "Honorary Citizen of the City of Aleshin." A street in the city is named in his honor, General Korotkov Highway.

By the decision of the city executive committee of Aleshin, the Eternal Flame was lit in Victory Square on May 9, 1965.

In the mass grave rest about 300 fighters of the 238th Rifle Division, of which the names of 260 are known. They participated in the liberation of the city in December 1941. In 1966, the remains of soldiers from mass graves in the villages of Shchukino, Bunyrevo, Gorushki, Lukeryino, Sukromna, Kolyupanovo, Aydarovo, Ushakovo, Korovino, Surnevo, the station Aleshin, and the settlement Vysokoye were reburied in Victory Square.
