In the Chkalov district, the main attraction for tourists has become the Museum Quarter 'Russian Wings', which successfully combines the idea of mastering speed in the air and on water, embodied by two great individuals connected to this land, V.P. Chkalov and R.E. Alekseev. 'Russian Wings' of Valery Chkalov, a true patriot who made a significant contribution to the development of domestic aviation, and the 'Russian Wings' of Rostislav Alekseev, who first lifted river vessels above water in the world, have become symbols of the district. Local artists, such as the Kamanyn dynasty, N.A. Markin, A.M. Vagichev, S.P. Alekseev, and others, captured the beauty of the surrounding nature in their paintings.
The Museum Quarter 'Russian Wings' is open for visits and includes the Memorial Museum of V.P. Chkalov and the Tourism Center 'Russian Wings'. The Center comprises the Culture House named after V.P. Chkalov, the Exhibition Hall named after the People's Artist of the Russian Federation A.M. Kamanyn, and the Museum of Speeds, a significant part of which is dedicated to the chief designer of hydrofoil vessels R.E. Alekseev.
The Tourism Center 'Russian Wings' is a non-profit organization that includes cultural institutions of a museum-exhibition type: the Culture House named after V.P. Chkalov, the exhibition hall named after the People's Artist of the RSFSR A.M. Kamanyn, and the new Museum of Speeds. The Center occupies a special place in the cultural life of the district and region, playing an important role in the development of the tourism business in the Chkalov district.
