The Marfo-Mariinsky Monastery in Belgorod was founded in 1993. In 2010, the Ioann-Kronstadt Metropolitan Rehabilitation Center "Resurrection" opened at the monastery, providing assistance to people with drug and alcohol addiction. The monastery's feast days are celebrated on June 17, in memory of Saints Martha and Mary.

The monastery in Belgorod was created based on the Marfo-Mariinsky Convent of Mercy, founded by Grand Duchess Elizabeth Feodorovna in Moscow. There was no monastery on the site before, but there were two churches: the Assumption-Nikolai Cathedral and the Church of the Protection of the Mother of God, which are now part of the monastery. The Assumption-Nikolai Cathedral is an architectural monument from the early 18th century, while the Protection Church dates from the late 18th century. The opening of the monastery in Belgorod was blessed by the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church on December 28, 1999.

In 1993, the restoration of the Protection Church began, during which it was decided to open a women's monastery. It was established according to the charter of the Marfo-Mariinsky Convent of Mercy, founded in 1909 by Grand Duchess Elizabeth Feodorovna, who was canonized in the late 20th century.

On February 9, 1994, the first Divine Liturgy was held in a single-story building in the monastery courtyard. For almost two years, until the restoration and consecration of the Protection Church, services were held here on Sundays and holidays.

Currently, the restored Protection Church hosts the Divine Liturgy and evening services daily. During Sunday evening services, the Akathist to the Protection of the Mother of God or the feast is sung. Thanks to the efforts of the nuns, the Monastic Service Rule is strictly observed in the monastery.

The sisters of the monastery serve as regents, sing, and read in the choir. They make monastic clothing and church vestments, maintain cleanliness in the church and the guesthouse for pilgrims, prepare meals for builders, and provide assistance to the poor and pilgrims. The residents also develop a subsidiary farm.

The monasteries' courtyards are located in the villages of Vergilevka and Russian Berezovka. The monastery lives according to a communal rule, and currently, 30 residents live there.

The convent operates an orphanage for girls, a charitable dining hall, a patronage service, and a church goods store. The convent has about 20 branches operating under its charter in Siberia, the Urals, and the Far East.
