The parish in the village of Bolshaya Norya was established on July 30, 1841, by the decision of the Holy Synod. It included villages that previously belonged to the parishes of the villages of Puzheuchinskoye and Yuskinskoye: Bolshaya Norya, Yakshur-Norya, Sredny Postol, Stary Postol, Sizyashur-Norya, Kochur-Norya, Vishur-Norya, Pychas, Verkhny Postol, Kulay-Norya, Stary Zhenvai, Verkhny Ludzy, and Sylyshur-Norya. Until the church was completed, services were held in a prayer house. A wooden church with one altar in honor of the holy apostles Peter and Paul was built in 1843 and operated until the stone temple was constructed.

In 1889, the Elabuga Charitable Chernov Committee allocated funds for the construction of a stone church. Iron worth 1,347 rubles was purchased for 10,000 rubles, and the production of 96,800 bricks was paid to peasant Simeon Stolbov for 513 rubles and 20 kopecks, and to contractor P.M. Bratukhin for the work under contract and the production of 575,000 bricks for 8,123 rubles and 2 kopecks. For drafting the contract with a notary in Sarapul, 20 rubles and 30 kopecks were paid. All expenses were recorded in a book, and there were receipts for the purchased materials.

The church was built from the interest on the capital of Elabuga merchant Fyodor Chernov in 1893 and had three altars. The main altar in honor of the holy apostles Peter and Paul was consecrated on November 18, 1893, by archpriest Vasily Uspensky on behalf of Bishop Sergey. The left chapel was consecrated in honor of the Protection of the Holy Virgin on September 23, 1897, and the right chapel in honor of the Epiphany of the Lord. The church parish charitable committee was established on March 17, 1869.

In August 1938, the Bolshenoryin village council suggested that the church council repair the church building due to its dilapidation. The repair required 20,000 rubles, and the church council of 15 members submitted a statement refusing the repairs.

A report from the Nylgin district council was submitted to the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the TASSR with the results of voting among residents of 17 settlements. Out of 1,430 participants, 1,068 voted for the closure of the church, which amounted to 74%. In September 1938, priest N. Kungurov refused his duties. By the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the TASSR, the church was closed on June 10, 1940. Subsequently, the building was used as a club, warehouse, and grain storage.

Since 1992, the church has been active again. Since 1994, under the spiritual guidance of archimandrite Vasilid Peshkov, a community of sisters aspiring to monastic life began to form in the village of Russky Pychas. In 1998, the women's monastery was officially opened. In 2001, with the blessing of Archbishop Nikolai, the sisters were relocated to the village of Norya. Thus, a women's monastery was formed at the church of the holy apostles Peter and Paul, which was named Malo-Diveevsky Seraphim Women's Monastery.

In 2006, the improvement of the new sisterhood building was completed, and a domestic church in honor of equal-to-the-apostles Mary Magdalene was consecrated. Currently, the monastery has a stone church of the apostles Peter and Paul, a sisterhood building with a domestic church, a guesthouse and refectory for pilgrims, a Jordan for water consecration, a priest's house, a cross for veneration, and utility buildings.
