Igor Severyanin, whose real name was Lotaryov, was born on May 4, 1887, in St. Petersburg and died on December 20, 1941, in Tallinn. He was a Russian poet of the Silver Age. Severyanin wrote his first poem at the age of eight. In the early 20th century, he became the first poet to perform on stage, holding his "poetry concerts" in various cities across Russia. In 1918, at a poetry evening at the Polytechnic Museum in St. Petersburg, he was proclaimed the "King of Poets," surpassing all participants, including Vladimir Mayakovsky.

After the revolution, Severyanin lived in Estonia, which was then an independent state. He died in 1941 and was buried at the Alexander Nevsky Orthodox Cemetery.
