The grand opening of the Liski Historical and Local Lore Museum took place on September 9, 2001. Prior to this event, work was carried out for ten years to relocate and reconstruct the architectural monument of the 19th century, the station school built in 1885.

The museum features seven exhibition halls, an art salon, and an exhibition hall, as well as the Vasily Pavlovich Krivoruchko Art Gallery. The gallery opened in December 2011 and includes about 300 works, representing the only museum in the region where Voronezh visual art from the second half of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century is permanently exhibited.

The museum's collections number over 20,000 storage units, among which the most valuable is the art collection consisting of more than 1,000 works. Most of these are creations by well-known artists from Voronezh and Liski. The foundation of the collection consists of gifts from artist V. P. Krivoruchko and his friends.

Every year, the museum hosts 10 to 15 art and photo exhibitions. The museum staff and Council annually publish the local lore almanac "Petrovskaya Sloboda." A monument to the poet A. B. Romakhov, a fellow countryman, is installed on the museum grounds.

The monument was erected in 2011 with funds raised by the people, with the participation of the museum staff. The author of the sculpture is A. Lukyanov.
