The Oktyabrsky Local History Museum was founded in the village of Pryamitsyno by the decree of the head of the Oktyabrsky district administration on January 11, 2001, in honor of the 30th anniversary of the Oktyabrsky district of the Kursk region. In 2006, the museum became a branch of the Kursk State Archaeological Museum. Since December of that year, it has been known as the Historical and Ethnographic Museum.
Currently, the museum's collections hold about 3,000 exhibits, with the most interesting ones displayed in the exhibition halls. Visitors are offered overview and thematic tours, lectures, exhibitions, meetings with interesting people, and interactive games. Every summer, the museum organizes weekly meetings for children of different ages, where they learn about the exhibits and discover the attractions of their homeland in a playful manner. The museum staff actively participates in the preparation and conduct of patriotic events in the district and schools, including memorial rallies and lessons of courage. Special attention is paid to commemorating the memory of famous fellow countrymen.
