Located 40 kilometers from the MKAD, in the village of Vozdvizhenskoe, is a unique museum of wooden architecture "Novoe-Staroe." The central object of this complex is an ancient kurnaya izba, transported here from the Kardopolsky district of the Arkhangelsk region.

This izba holds significant cultural and historical value, as it was built in the late 19th century. It represents a typical peasant house of the Russian North.

This type of izba is considered the most traditional for the northern regions of Russia. A distinctive feature of these izbas is that they were heated "by the black method," meaning without a chimney, and smoke filled the upper part of the interior rooms. Such stoves were very common. Smoke exited through volokovye windows, located under the ceiling or at a height of 2-2.5 meters from the floor. This heating method and small windows helped retain heat for a long time. The family lived on the second floor of the house, while the first floor (podklet) was used for household needs. A "dvor" was also attached to the house, a covered two-level space for livestock and storage, which was usually also built from logs.
