The Krasnovishersky Local History Museum began its work on August 1, 1980. The collection of exhibits was actively participated in by the residents of the Krasnovishersky district. The design of the exhibitions was handled by Yuri Alekseevich Novinkov, an artist from the Perm Art Fund, and Grigory Ivanovich Veselsky, a teacher, local historian, and artist, who became the first director of the museum.

The museum's exhibition activities include a permanent exhibition divided into thematic sections. The first section is dedicated to the nature of the region. The second, ethnographic, tells about the culture and everyday life of the local residents, and it also features exhibits from the Kutim Iron Foundry. Other sections highlight events of the Great Patriotic War and the activities of major enterprises in the district. The museum's main collection contains over 4,000 storage units, including more than 200 works of visual art that can be seen in the exhibition hall.

The museum includes four subdivisions: the local history museum, the exhibition hall, the hall of political repressions named after V. T. Shalamov, and the ethnopark. Today, it is one of the key tourist attractions in the city and an important part of its cultural life.
