The history of the Melenkovsky region is closely linked to the names of many outstanding individuals who significantly influenced the development of the area. Thanks to Count R.I. Vorontsov, the village of Melenki was granted city status. The development of the Melenkovsky region from the 8th to the 19th centuries is reflected in the section "Melenkovsky District in Faces." The museum has a hall dedicated to "The Interior of a Merchant's House," where furniture is arranged by zones: hallway, dining room, living room, red corner, and study. In the red corner, icons are displayed in beautiful frames covered with gold leaf. An important place in the interior is occupied by photographs of the last priest of the Pokrovsky Cathedral, Father I. Tikhomirov, who was canonized. The section "Fauna of the Melenkovsky District" features taxidermied specimens of 59 local animal species.

The section "Traditions of the Rural Home and Lifestyle" demonstrates the difficulties and challenges of peasant life, their hard work and ingenuity, and their ability to use various materials to solve life’s problems. Here, exhibits reflecting the male crafts of the Melenkovsky land are collected: wickerwork, pottery, and blacksmithing, as well as the production of items from birch bark, bast, and wood. Female crafts include weaving, knitting tablecloths, sewing clothes, spinning flax and wool, and making quilts in patchwork technique.
