The Manturovo Local History Museum is one of the youngest in the Kostroma region. It is located in the historic part of the city of Manturovo, next to the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker and the monument to the fallen residents of the city.
Today, the museum's collections number over 11,000 items and continue to grow. In addition to traditional exhibitions, the museum hosts various events and workshops.
The Manturovo Museum serves as a center for local history activities for the city of Manturovo and the Manturovo district. In August 2001, the museum director and local historian Sergey Nikolayevich Toropov was awarded the governor's prize "Recognition," the highest award in the field of culture in the region. He has also written several books on the history of the area. In 2017, the museum celebrated its 25th anniversary.
