The Korenevsky Local History Museum was opened by the decision of the district executive committee. The basis of its exhibition consists of materials from the Glory of Battle Room of the Korenevskaya Railway School No. 75. The museum is located in an old building that previously belonged to merchant Sekeryna.

In 1990, the museum was awarded the title of "People's Museum," and in 2004 it became a branch of the Kursk Regional Local History Museum.

The museum's collections number over 3,000 storage units, and its exhibition area is 143 square meters.

The museum's exhibition covers the history of the Korenevsky region from the first settlements to the present day.

Visitors show great interest in materials dedicated to the architectural and garden-park heritage of the Korenevskaya land, as well as the noble estates of I.T. Viktorov in the village of Safonovka ("Palace for the Beloved," restored in 1999), A.V. Muravyov in the village of Skrylevka, and the Kitaevs in the town of Korenevo.

The modernity section presents information about the secretary of the Korenevsky District Committee of the RCSM in 1930, Ekaterina Alexeyevna Furtsova, who later became the Minister of Culture of the USSR.

In the nature section, one can find materials about Lake Zheltom, which contains about 37,000 tons of sapropel, an important agrochemical raw material. By its chemical composition, it is comparable to the limestone sapropelic muds of the "Samotsvet" resort in the Sverdlovsk region.

The Korenevsky land is associated with the names of such famous individuals as the honored artist of the RSFSR and soloist of the Bolshoi Ballet A.M. Rudenko, the people's artist of the USSR V.Ya. Tretyak, writers N.I. Leverov and N.N. Pylyev, as well as artist S.G. Buchnev.

Every year, about 3,500 people visit the Korenevsky Local History Museum.
